External systems securely connected to SAP

An integration workflow translates external formats for SAP, a Fiori interface enables bulk editing on any device.

External systems securely connected to SAP

At a glance

Industry: Energy / Enterprise IT

Starting point: external systems with their own data formats must work securely with internal SAP CAP applications; business processes change often

DYN-IT's role: Integration and development of the application interface

Result: one central integration workflow as data adapter, an adaptive interface with mass editing for all devices

Technology: SAP Integration Suite (CPI), SAP CAP, SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, Cloud Connector

Starting point

Data came from external systems in their own formats and had to be taken over into internal SAP applications built on CAP, with high demands on security and consistency. Business processes changed often, so the interface had to stay flexible and work on every device.

What we did

  • In SAP Integration Suite we built one central CPI workflow that acts as a data adapter: external format in, internal format out.

  • The connection to the CAP applications runs over secured channels (Cloud Connector), so data arrives complete and consistent.

  • We built the interface with SAP Fiori and SAPUI5: dynamic filters, mass editing, custom draft handling, aggregation views and support for all devices.

Result

  • New external data sources are adapted in one place, the integration workflow, not in every application.

  • Users edit many records at once instead of one by one and keep the overview in aggregation views.

  • New business processes can be mapped faster thanks to CAP and Fiori.
